Prom as Promised
In 2020, the pandemic cancelled many proms. Donning their tuxedos, gowns and masks, Columbia high school students had their prom in-person at the MU Health Care Pavilion on Saturday April 24, 2021. Beforehand, proud parents photographed their children in the golden hour glow at the nearby Shelter Gardens.
"It gives you that flashback," said Latisha Mayes, mother of Battle High School senior Jordan Mayes. "You remember when they're born, now here you are, they are going to their senior prom. So, it's a very warming feeling seeing that they are so happy, all dressed up."
